This project forms part of an ongoing exploration into the spectrum of relations between constraint and abandon via a series of drawing performances. In Apparatus Tethered, the sculptural armature extends to produce a long flaccid form that requires energetic movement to bring it to life and mark the panel at the end of the steel sections. In this iteration of the work, I collaborated with Robin Hearfield, to develop a series of live camera feeds connected to the apparatus. This elongated iteration of the drawing apparatus was fitted with series of endoscopes whose flexible cables followed the line of the apparatus. Each endoscopic view produced a different perspective of the performance, and transmitted the live footage onto screens positioned within a timber framework.
